2011 Pipeline Report: HIV, HCV, immune treatments, cure and TB research

The recently published “i-Base and TAG 2011 Pipeline Report makes clear, medically, the prospect for people with HIV, hepatitis C virus (HCV), and tuberculosis (TB) to live long and healthy lives – and in the cases of HCV and TB, to be cured rapidly with safe, effective, oral combination therapy – have never been better.

Politically and economically, the world’s activists and political leaders face a crisis in which the former must persuade the latter to redirect billions of dollars from unproductive wars into life-saving health research and access programmes, at home and internationally.”  The report covers the most recent and exciting developments in HIV, hepatitis and TB research.  Jonathan Berger, a senior researcher at SECTION27, contributed the chapter entitled “Patents and the pipeline: is access under threat?”
