Sasha Stevenson

Executive Director

I am the Head of Health and started and started working at SECTION27 on 1 October 2012.

I currently focus on access to healthcare services in the Eastern Cape and Mpumalanga; on access to emergency medical services and mental health care services; on access to services for migrants; on National Health Insurance and human resources for health; and on the prevention of non-communicable diseases, among others.

I stick around because I love working with the smart and dedicated team at SECTION27 and love how my work here allows me to be a lawyer, activist, organiser, researcher, spokesperson, advisor and analyst every day.

I previously worked at Bowman Gilfillan as a Researcher for the late Chief Justice Langa at the Constitutional Court, for the Trial Chamber of the International Criminal Court and, for a few months during the London Olympics (not unrelated), with barristers of Inner Temple in London. I studied at Rhodes University and the University of Cambridge
