Community Mobiliser

I joined Section27 on 1 June 2018.

I coordinate the Eastern Cape Health Crisis Action Coalition (ECHCAC), which broadly seeks to contribute to the advancement of access to human rights in health in the Eastern Cape through challenging the current weaknesses of the health system in the province.

I stick around because I am inspired by the work that I do and the experiences that it gives me – both intended and unintended. My job allows me to grow as a person, and not just in the attainment of skills in an employment set up;

The experience of working directly with communities, learning about their grievances as well as what they propose as possible solutions to challenges they are faced with, is humbling. It is an eye-opener about the meaning of active citizenry in a democratic society.
