I started with SECTIOn27 on the 1st of February 2018.

I am a paralegal and responsible for client intakes telephonically and in person. I liaise between clients and attorneys on various legal issues by providing legal advice. My role is to ensure that issues within mandate of SECTION27 are directed to precise practitioners and that client instruction is given utmost attention!

Human Rights are most ignored and susceptible to defilement and exploitation. In many cases, it so happens that the casualties of gross human rights violations are people who are impecunious and generally marginalised. It is for this reason again that organisations such as SECTION27 exist to lobby and advocate on behalf of those who would be easily disregarded and forgotten by the powers that be. It is for this reason that I choose to stick around; to share my skills in ensuring that sufferers of human rights violations are guarded and assisted.

I was a community based paralegal in Mohlakeng Township since 2013. I have been charmed by this type of legal practice due to its very simplistic and lay approach. I then studied towards a diploma in law wherein I graduated cum laude at the University of Johannesburg in 2015. I then co-founded a community based organiSation; Community Justice Centre. In 2017, I joined Lawyers for Human Rights as a Legal Intern for the Refugees and Migrants Rights Programme- assisting the marginalised and poor migrants with access to education, documentation, health and social services.
