SECTION27, the Equal Education Law Centre (EELC), Equal Education (EE) and the Legal Resources Centre (LRC) are hosting a conference on the Implementation of the new Norms & Standards for School Infrastructure on Monday the 14th and Tuesday the 15th of July 2014 at the Wits Education Campus, Parktown, Johannesburg.
The conference is a chance for all stakeholders in education to learn more about what the Norms & Standards are, and how they will affect education going forward. This conference is vital to ensuring that this important new law translates into real schools with classrooms, water, electricity, sanitation, libraries, computer centres, and all the facilities they need. We would love you to join us

The Norms and Standards, albeit not perfect, are a basis to improve thousands of schools and change millions of lives. The Norms and Standards have placed a number of infrastructure delivery obligations on the Department of Basic Education (DBE) nationally and provincially, and have set specific deadlines for their achievement. The next phase of our work must be to monitor the implementation and delivery of these norms and standards to schools across the country.
While there is no formal registration fee for the conference, participants are invited to donate R150 to contribute towards the costs of the conference, including expenses for the travel and accommodation of those participants who are not able to pay. In this way we can ensure that all important stakeholders are part of this important discussion on how we can all work together to improve the state of our schools.
