As diet-related non-communicable diseases (NCDs) continue to rise in South Africa, there is an urgent need for interventions that not only discourage the consumption of unhealthy foods but also foster healthier food environments. This paper explores the potential of public food procurement (PFP) as a strategic tool for NCD prevention within South Africa’s public health facilities.
