CHIEF OPERATING OFFICER
SECTION27 seeks a Chief Operating Officer to provide strategic direction, planning and management of the organisation. The successful candidate must be meticulous, systematic, methodical and organised with demonstrable problem-solving ability. The candidate is able to prioritise and manage several projects concurrently, is diplomatic, dedicated and committed.
Education, experience, knowledge and skills
Essential: Graduate business qualification; relevant managerial and financial experience; financial literacy, including the ability to assess control systems; prior human resource management experience and qualifications; knowledge of NGOs, the donor environment and the requirements for successful grant proposals; excellent networking skills and the ability to communicate and interact with partners at a high level; excellent writing, computer and communication skills; excellent time management.
Advantageous: Knowledge of human rights issues, particularly as they relate to healthcare and education.
ATTORNEY (Right to basic education)
SECTION27’s legal work focuses primarily on access to healthcare services; improved access to basic education and nutrition; and the reform and regulation of health systems in the public and private spheres. SECTION27 seeks a self-motivated attorney with excellent legal and research skills to work in the organisation’s Legal Services and Litigation Department and to focus on the right to basic education.
Education, experience, knowledge and skills
Essential: Admitted attorney of the High Court of South Africa; at least two years’ post-qualification experience; excellent English language and writing skills; ability to conduct legal research; knowledge of human rights issues; experience in drafting legal pleadings and opinions; ability to work independently and under pressure; good negotiating skills; excellent computer skills; and good time management.
Advantageous: postgraduate degree in law; knowledge of at least one South African language.
