Monday 7 November : John Stephens and Sasha Stevenson will attend the end of year strategic planning meeting for the Stop Stockouts Project. The SSP is a consortium of the Southern African HIV Clinicians Society, the Treatment Action Campaign, SECTION27, the Rural Health Advocacy Project, the Rural Doctor’s Association of South Africa and Médecines Sans Frontières that focuses on resolving the plague of shortages and stockouts of essential medication in South Africa. This year’s meeting will plot the strategic course of the SSP for the next several years. Tuesday 8 November: Umunyana Rugege and Nikki Stein will accompany the family members of deceased former residents of Life Esidimeni who will be interviewed by the Health Ombud as part of his investigation into the move of mental health care users from Life Esidimeni.
Wednesday 9 November: Community Mobiliser Patrick Mdletshe is attending a breakfast Meeting to mark the USA 2016 elections with US consulate general at Parade Protea hotel in Durban.
Thursday 10 November: Community Mobiliser Patrick Mdletshe will attend a one-day conference on policy debate “Towards a Standard of Decent Living”. The conference will be held at Crowne Plaza, Rosebank.
Friday 11 November: Executive Director Mark Heywood will be participating in a high-level discussion on economic governance and inequality entitled “where is the money?” at GIBS from 9am-5pm. Opening speaker Justice Edward Cameron.
Sasha Stevenson and Mluleki Marongo are attending the National Treasury Meeting on the forthcoming Tax on sugar on sweetened Beverages
Community Mobiliser Solanga Milambo is attending a SANAC Plenary meeting for preparations for World Aids Day, on the 1st of December.
