This week we are going to the streets. Marching, mobilising, and more than anything else, demanding change and access to quality healthcare for all.

Monday 26: The SECTION27’s private health team with Fix the Patent Laws coalition partners will hold a meeting on universal health coverage. The meeting will focus on the upcoming universal health coverage day and coordinating on broader health system strengthening. The team will also have a training on activism, advocacy and mobilization skills. The training will be on developments with the intellectual property policy and global access to medicines issues.

Monday 26 -30 : SECTION27 and the Treatment Action Campaign will conduct EMS monitoring in Isilimela and Lusikisiki in addition, members of ECHCAC will meet with management at Isilimela Hospital to discuss the issues faced by the community in accessing quality healthcare in the area including ambulances, medicine stock outs and human resources for health.

Tuesday 27: SECTION27 with Fix the Patent Laws coalition partners will march to the Department of Trade and Industry in Pretoria to hand over our joint submission on the IP Consultative Framework released on 14 July 2016. The coalition will also be launching a Fix the Patent Laws publication titled ‘Patent Barriers to Medicine Access in South Africa: A Case for Patent Law Reform’.

Thursday 29: Community mobiliser Patrick Mdletshe is attending a National Strategic Plan consultation meeting to engage various stakeholders on the development process of the upcoming NSP.ST
