Monday:

We have the honour to announce Wits university will be awarding us the University Gold Medal, as recognition of our invaluable contribution towards social justice in the country.  The ceremony will take place on Monday the 27th at 17:00 in the university Great hall. Our Director of Litigation Adila Hassim will give the keynote address, which will include a congratulatory message to the graduands. 

Executive Director Mark Heywood is speaking at the Ridge Primary school to learners at the school in the senior grades 5 to 7. Mark will speak about the ‘the wonders of reading and the story of the book’. The talk will be hosted at the school and will start at 2:15pm.

Tuesday : SECTION27 is hosting a group of Journalism undergrad students from North-western University in the united states of America. The students are part of a programme co-ordinated by Fray Intermedia to allow students to engage with various publications in both main stream and alternative media in the country. SECTION27 will speak to the students about the importance of community media and how civil society uses media platforms in their quest for social justice.

SECTION27 Congratulates Basetsana Koitse, one of our staff members who graduates with A Bachelor of laws  degree, from the University of Witwatersrand this afternoon. We wish her well on this special day, and look forward to seeing her make her mark in the world.

Thursday: Advocate Faranaaz Veriava is attending a consultative meeting with the Department of Education and various other stake holders to discuss the draft national strategy on learner discipline in schools and protocol on elimination of corporal punishment in schools. The meeting will be hosted at the Departments offices in Pretoria and will start at 08:30am

Friday: Field Researcher Patrick Mdletshe is attending the launch of the National strategic plan for the period of 2017- 2022. The launch will take place in Bloemfontein, Free state. The launch will be attended too by the Deputy President of the country Cyril Ramaphosa, various  Premiers, and leaders of civil society.

The Education and Know Your Constitution  teams will be conducting a training session on sexual violence workshops with the Leratong Child Rescue Advisory Centre in Katlehong. As well as Sijabulile High School in Volsoruus.
