Welcome back Friends…2018 is starting to pick up speed and at SECTION27 we are already busy.
TUESDAY January 16
SECTION27 Budget Analyst Daniel McLaren, is starting to research the budget issues affecting the provision of emergency medical services in the Eastern Cape. He is also coordinating the shortlisting process for IMALI YETHU. IMALI YETHU is a coalition of civil society organizations working with the South African National Treasury to make budget information more accessible, user-friendly and empowering.
SECTION27 Legal research fellow Zain Rizvi is participating in a Global Summit on Intellectual Property & Access to Medicines in Marrakech, Morocco. The summit is organized by the International Treatment Preparedness Coalition, and includes more than 120 participants from 34 countries.
THURSDAY January 18
The Life Esidimeni arbitration continues on Thursday 18 January 2018 at Emoyeni, Parktown. Among others, Professor Ames Dhai and Gauteng health department official Hannah Jacobus are expected to testify this week. At least 143 mentally ill patients died as a result of the Marathon Project.
