Tuesday 28 May

Head of Health Sasha Stevenson, Field Researcher Patrick Mdletshe and Community Mobiliser Sifiso Nkala will be meeting with members of the Treatment Action Campaign Mpumalanga in Ermelo to discuss advocacy strategies to improve people’s access to health systems in Mpumalanga.

Tuesday 28 – Wednesday 29 May

Head of Education Faranaaz Veriava and Legal Researcher Vuyisile Malinga will attend the National Association of Social Change Entities conference (NASCEE). The conference, which will include the election of the board of directors of NASCEE, will be an exchange of ideas and experiences across the public-; private and civil society sectors. The aim of the conference to is to harvest insight on how best the goals and vision of NASCEE can best be achieved, through the collaborate efforts of all the stakeholders involved.
Wednesday 29 May

Field Researcher Solanga Milambo, NSP Co-ordinator Vuyokazi Gonyela and Patrick Mdletshe will be attending a National Stakeholder meeting to review and approve draft three of the Implementation for a Comprehensive Response to Human Rights and Gender-Related Barriers to HIV and TB Services Year Plan, at O.R. Tambo International Airport.

SECTION27 will be hosting a delegation of students from Gordon College in Massachusetts USA. The aim of this visit is to draw parallels on the developments in South Africa and the US in the social justice sector.

Thursday 30 May

Members of the SECTION27 team will be facilitating a Sexual and Reproductive Health Rights (SRHR) workshop with  the UMgungundlovu branches of TAC in KwaZulu Natal. The training aims to strengthen advocacy for access to health services for women, specifically access to termination of pregnancy. Following the workshop TAC comrades train 15 branches of TAC and other community members.

Solanga Milambo will be attending a People Living with HIV (PLHIV) sector meeting in Mopani, Limpopo where he will present on the role of the PLHIV Sector in AIDS Councils and SRHR.

Friday 31 May

Parick Mdletshe and Selby Mgadi will be facilitating a workshop with TAC KZN iLembe District. This training will be attended by TAC trainers and Members of civil society from the District AIDS council of iLembe. The training will be focusing on SRHR and the District implementation plan for HIV, focusing on monitoring access to health care services, and the role of civil society..
Members of the SECTION27 team working on  Sexual Violence and Sexual and Reproductive Health Rights will  deliver a presentation on the organisation’s work at the boys and girls club in Alexander.
