Thursday 20 March

The January 28 waiver of the Stop-Work Order introduced on 24 January 2025 should be understood as a clear directive for all U.S. Global Health Foreign Aid recipients to immediately resume essential, life-saving humanitarian efforts. This includes providing medical supplies, services, food, and support for disease prevention and subsistence needs. While the U.S. President’s Executive Order paused foreign assistance, the waiver was intended to prevent disruptions in global health programs. It’s crucial that implementing partners act without delay, as delays only worsens the crisis. The waiver should apply to all global health initiatives, including PEPFAR, the U.S. Malaria Initiative, and other U.S. health programs, to ensure the continuation of healthcare service provision.
