SECTION27 is a well-established and widely respected public interest law centre that seeks to achieve substantive equality and social justice in South Africa. Guided by the principles and values in the Constitution, SECTION27 uses law in advocacy, legal literacy, research, community mobilisation and precedent-setting litigation to achieve access to healthcare services and basic education, build important jurisprudence and strengthen government accountability.

SECTION27 is committed to skills development and skills upliftment within the public interest sector. The organisation has a holiday internship program that is aimed at creating opportunities for motivated law students to obtain practical work experience which will complement their studies and/or improve their competence and future employability.

SECTION27 seeks two LLB students as candidates for the winter break internship program. The successful candidates will get a chance to work with and learn from the dynamic and driven legal team of SECTION27.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Participate in research projects
  • Participate in a drafting exercises
  • Participate in supervised consultations with clients.

Qualification

Second year to final year LLB students

Languages

  • Excellent written and spoken English.
  • Proficiency in one or more indigenous South African languages is .
