SECTION27 has submitted a leave to intervene as amicus curiae (friend of the court) in proceedings initiated by the Pan African Lawyers Association, which invite the Court to elaborate on states’ obligations in relation to climate change.

This submission considers the impact of climate change on the rights to basic education and access to health in the SADC region. It begins by addressing the effects on the right to basic education, before turning to the corresponding impacts on healthcare systems and access to health services.
